The student will sort the card into pairs. This card sort activity can be used in several different ways:
Students can sort the cards in multiple ways depending on what you have already covered.
The vertex and point card can be paired with the vertex form equation card.
The vertex and point card can be paired with the standard form equation card.
The vertex form equation card can be paired with the standard form equation card.
Lastly, you can have them make groups of three with the vertex & point card, vertex form equation card & standard form equation card.
This card sort activity will help students with re-writing quadratic equations from vertex form to standard form writing quadratic equations when given the vertex and a point on the parabola.
 
TEKS covered: A.6B: write equations of quadratic functions given the vertex and another point on the graph, write the equation in vertex form (f(x) = a(x – h)^2 + k), and rewrite the equation from vertex form to standard form (f(x) = ax^2 + bx + c)
